The Kuwait Space Commission is embarking on a mission to define a National Space Strategy that will align and harmonize efforts within Kuwait’s burgeoning space industry. This strategy aims to position Kuwait as a global leader in space exploration and technology by fostering a mature and robust public and private space sector.
The space sector holds tremendous potential for socio-economic growth, strengthening national identity, enhancing soft power, bolstering national security, and ensuring technological resilience. Historically, Kuwait’s focus has been on terrestrial communication, particularly following the destruction of the Umm Al-Aish ground station. However, the local industry has struggled to keep pace with global and regional competitors, leading to a decline in competitiveness across the value chain.
By collaborating with a consortium of international experts, the Kuwait Space Commission is poised to develop a comprehensive Space Strategy that aligns with Kuwait’s Vision 2035. This strategy will guide the nation toward a future where space exploration and technology play a central role in its socio-economic development.
